Impact of Lane-Changing Behavior on Surrounding On-Line Bus Stops Based on Cellular Automation Model

Near the bus stop, because the bus enters and leaves the station for stopping, the surrounding vehicles are hindered and the lane-changing rate soars, which imposes an effect on the capacity of the road. In addition, cars near the Kerb Lane are more affected by the bus, which leads to a significant velocity difference. This paper studies the impact of the on-line bus stop on the lane-changing rate of surrounding vehicles from average velocity, traffic flow, and stability when bus occupancy are different. A new three-lane cellular automata model of change lanes is established to partly simulate and analyze. The research results show that the effect of on-line bus stops on the lane-changing rate of vehicles in different lanes are different. When traffic densities and bus occupancy are different, the lane-changing rate, average velocity, traffic flow, and stability of cars in different lanes will change accordingly.
