Phase 2 Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Fuel Efficiency Standards for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Engines and Vehicles
On October 25, 2016, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration jointly published the second phase of greenhouse gas emissions and fuel efficiency standards for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles and engines (81 Federal Register 73478) through their authorities under the Clean Air Act, as amended, and the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (P.L. 110-140). This document presents an overview of these standards, highlighting emissions reductions, nitrogen oxide standards, trailer provisions, racecar provisions, and glider kit and glider vehicle provisions.
