UPGRADED THIRD GENERATION INFORMATION FLOW REQUIREMENTS ANALYSIS. VOLUME 1. SUMMARY
FAA information transfer requirements are organized into four categories, representing National Aviation System Status, Flight Movement, Flight Planning and Air Traffic Management. The communications requirements are defined and analyzed for the 1975-1985 time frame. The analysis is based on air traffic forecasts for the time period and the communications associated with anticipated upgraded third generation air traffic planning, status, control, and management capabilities. These lead to a specific Statement of Requirements for air and ground communications applicable to flight operations in the upgraded third generation air traffic control environment. The report is presented in three volumes as follows: Volume 1 - Summary, Volume 2 - Analysis, and Volume 3 - Appendices. (Author)
