THE AREA WHERE THE CAR DRIVER FUNCTIONS OPTICALLY
DER OPTISCHE FUNKTIONSKREIS DES AUTOGAHRERS
Good visual acuity is extremely important for people coping with road traffic. Various changes take place in the eye which can restrict visual acuity. The paper deals with glare caused by the reflection of light from sunlit light-coloured roads, snowscapes or the headlamps of oncoming vehicles at night. Optical perception also decreases with increasing speed. One-eyedness also reduces driving aptitude. On the other hand colour-blindness may be balanced out by good physical qualities such as prudence and a feeling of responsibility. (TRRL)
