STATIC PILE LOAD TEST MANUAL
This manual establishes uniform statewide procedures for conducting and reporting the results of static pile load tests, in conformance with specification requirements. The primary objectives of static pile load tests are threefold: to establish load-settlement relationships of the pile-soil system, to determine the ultimate load capacity of the pile- soil system, and to determine load distribution in the pile- soil system. The test will confirm the design assumptions or cause these assumptions to be modified. This may result in reducing or extending the proposed pile length. Two types of static load tests are described in this manual: the Incremental-Static-Load Test for determining load- settlement relationships and load distribution, and the Constant-Rate-of-Penetration Test for quickly determining ultimate load capacity of the pile-soil system.
