Fuel Consumption Metrics of PHEV by the Equivalent Composite of Electricity and Gasoline
The fuel consumption metrics of a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) is calculated by composing the energy consumption in the charge depleting and charge sustaining modes using the utility factor, where such methods of energy consumption are used as (1) the gasoline consumption only and (2) the gasoline consumption including the gasoline equivalent to electricity consumption by its heat content. In this presentation, the utility factor and the equivalent composite of electricity and gasoline are reviewed, and a representative metrics of PHEV fuel consumption to be displayed is presented.
