OPTIMAL SLOPE-ANGLES IN ROCK CUTTINGS FORECAST APPROACH
OPTIMAL SSLLENTLUTNING I BERGSKAERNINGAR
This report is a preliminary study of a road with steep slopes in the southern part of Sweden. Some facts concerning the blasting-method, maintenance and protection measures and costs have been produced. A photographic map of the slopes is shown. It is of interest to find the most economic slope-angle in a road project where the slope requires a great amount of maintenance work. The real costs for smoothblasting in this special slope are compared with the estimated costs for lower slope-angles, and found to be less. This study shows that sufficient facts about a rock-slope can be produced after the actual construction. A method of comparing blasting costs and maintenance costs occurring at different times is also mentioned in this report. (TRRL)
