RESONANCE OF MOORED OBJECTS IN WAVE TRAINS

This paper presents and discusses relationships to be considered with regard to the resonance and drift of moored objects in wave trains. Results obtained from model tests with a right angled barge are presented and compared to the theoretical relationships. Based on the results of preliminary data from these tests, the authors conclude that model test results correspond well with the simple theory which calculates the slowly varying drifting force of regular wave trains. This study further supports the authors conclusion that the normal wave height spectrum does not provide sufficient information to predict the behavior of the moored vessel.
