EYE FIXATIONS OF DRIVERS IN RESPONSE TO VARIOUS RETROREFLECTIVE TREATMENTS OF A SEMITRAILER
A field test was conducted to measure the attention-getting properties of various amounts of retroreflective materials fastened to a semitrailer parked beside a test track. The drivers were under the impression they are participating in an unrelated sign-identification task. Increased amounts of retroreflective material markedly increased the distances at which drivers looked at the semitrailer. (E)
