CONTINUOUS SHIP UNLOADERS CHALLENGE GRABS
Terminal operators have shown reluctance to switch from grab-type ship unloaders to the continuous systems claimed to be superior for handling abrasive materials. The author examines the merits of various designs for fixed and shipborne high capacity continuous unloaders now on offer -- some already proven in practice, others still in the evaluation stage -- and suggests that it may now be opportune for users to take the plunge and adopt the continuous unloading concept.
