CATALOG OF NRL SHIPBOARD WINCHES

The report was written to disseminate information and catalog NRL shipboard winches for those ocean scientists, engineers and technicians who use or plan to use equipment of this type for hauling or handling instrument packages. Some of the winches described are single-purpose systems which have been permanently installed on a particular ship, while others are completely self-contained, multi-purpose units which may be temporarily installed on any research vessel.
