A PHOTO-OPTICAL METHOD FOR ESTIMATING DIRECTIONAL WAVE-SLOPE SPECTRA
An optical system is described and analyzed by which directional waveslope spectra can be obtained from a single still photograph of the sea surface. Several of the approximations and limitations introduced in the analysis are studied to determine their influence on the accuracy of the spectral estimates. Further development of this device is recommended so that typical sea characteristics can be obtained easily. (Author)
