CENSUS BUREAU GUIDE TO TRANSPORTATION STATISTICS, 1976

Provides information concerning selected transportation statistics that were made available as the result of the 1972 census of transportation. The 3 components of the 1972 census of transportation--the national travel survey, the truck inventory, and the commodity transportation survey--are discussed in separate sections of the guide. Information is provided for each of the 3 surveys as follows: a general description of the survey method and design; reliability of the data; descriptions or lists of the data contained in the published reports, selected tables and graphics, and facsimiles or questionnaires; availability of unpublished data; description and record contents of the public use tapes; and availability of the survey results. The guide also contains a general description of other surveys conducted by the Bureau of the Census and the availability of a special geographic reference file useful to those working with large amounts of transportation data.
