Supersedes mineral resources of the United States. Annual statistical volumes, reviewing the mineral industries of the United States and foreign countries. Contains official govt. statistics on metals, minerals, and mineral products, together with a factual record of economic and technological developments and trends. Beginning with the volume for 1952, issued in three volumes; for 1963, in four volumes: vols. 1 & 2. Metals, minerals and fuels. Chapters on mineral commodities, metals, nonmetals, and mineral fuels, a review of the mineral industries, statistical summary and recapitulation, mining technology, metallurgical technology, and employment and injuries. Chapters for individual commodities, which are arranged alphabetically in the volume, give annual statistics on domestic production, consumption and uses, stocks, prices, foreign trade, reserves, and world production. Index. Charts. Prior to 1966, volumes 1 and 2 were published separately with volume 2 devoted to mineral fuels. Vol. 3. Area reports: domestic. Chapters covering each of the 50 states and possessions of the United States. In addition, a chapter recapitulating the statistics in summary form on a regional basis and a chapter on employment and injuries are included. Vol. 5. Area reports: international. Summary chapter reviews minerals in the world economy. Individual chapters, arranged by area and country, give data on production and trade (exports and imports). Reprints--annual. Chapters which will later be included in the bound volumes are issued as preprints in advance of publication as they are completed.
