PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA AND BALTIMORE MARYLAND-CONSUMER CONCEIVED ATTRIBUTES OF TRANSPORTATION< AN ATTITUDE STUDY, 1965 AND 1966

The Baltimore study experience revealed valuable adaptations for the subsequent Philadelphia survey. Both initially sought to indentify and assess the consumers importance of attributes to an ideal transportation system. Further, the surveys polled the consumers on the extent to which existing systems satisfy their ideal system. Both surveys included: a preliminary sheet requesting household demographic data, recent trip information, importance of transportation system attributes and the Philadelphia survey also assessed the satisfaction with factors of automobiles and bus service. Respondents-Philadelphia 471/Baltimore 550. Self-adminis at home with an interview of available for explanations. Multistage are probability sampling design. The Baltimore sample incl rural and urban pop. Philadelphia sample from Phil SMSA.
