The Transformation of the Parking Industry
Parking professionals have seen a tremendous transformation to their profession over the last five decades. During the formative years in the parking industry, many organizations changed their names from the “parking department” to “department of transportation and parking services”—reflecting the fact that they were becoming more customer friendly, as well as increasingly intermodal. This trend was strengthened by the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991. This article explores these and other parking-industry transformations.
