Assessment of the influence of the noise level of road transport on the state of the environment
The growth of city population appears to be so intensive that the environment of many cities of the world fails to satisfy many biological and social human needs. That is why the idea of transfer to “green economics”, where material welfare is provided not by increase of ecological risks, becomes highly demanded, because there is no other way to provide ecological sustainability of urbanized territories. One of the most sufficient factors having impact on the state of the environment is increase of automobilization. Nowadays, automobile transport is the largest source of pollution of the environment in the urbanized territories. This article is dedicated to assessment of the influence of the noise level of the road transport on the state of the environment. It is admitted that the noise from road traffic flows constitutes the largest danger to human health, as road transport is the source of noise located directly near the places of human residence. Assessment of the noise pollution level was carried out through on-site investigations of a big city. According to the result of the measurements, the sound level exceeds the maximum acceptable level at any measured traffic flow intensity and at any distance from the road. To determine analytical form of dependence of the sound level from the intensity of traffic and the distance to the road (source of noise) a regression analysis was performed. As a result, the regression functions were found. Calculations were performed based on the obtained functions. They showed that the sound level within the interval from 0 to 41 meters from the road exceeds the maximum acceptable level and that location in this interval can have negative impact on human health. This article analyzes the main measures of combating noise pollution from road traffic flows.
