THE DESIGN OF NOISE BARRIERS ALONG ROADS
DE VOORMGEVING VAN GELUIDWERENDE VOORZIENINGEN LANGS WEGEN
The noise caused by road traffic is becoming more and more of a nuisance. Under the influence of developments in other countries noise barriers and earth walls were constructed along some Dutch highways with a heavy traffic density. This publication aims to show the possibilities and limitations of the prevention of noise nuisance. Aspects which play a role in the evaluation of the different measures to combat noise nuisance are: acoustical, aesthetical, planning, constructional, and traffic safety. These aspects are discussed. Examples of noise barriers are presented. (TRRL)
