Experimental Investigation on Combined Performance Improvement and Emission Reduction in a MENO Fuelled CI Engine with Oxygenated and Antioxidant Additives
Experimental investigation on simultaneous performance improvement and emission reduction of MENO (Methyl ester of neem oil) as test fuel in diesel engine with oxygenated (Diethyl ether) and antioxidant (P-phenylenediamine) additives is reported in this paper. 10% DEE blend by volume with MENO gives better performance and emissions except NO emissions based on the previous work. So the oxygenated additive DEE is blended by 10% by volume with MENO for better performance. Similarly the P200 antioxidant blend with MENO seems optimal blend to suppress the NO emissions based on the previous work. Based on this P200 antioxidant additive is further added to MENO+DEE10 blend to suppress the NO emissions. Performance, combustion and emission analysis were done in a single cylinder, four stroke, 3.5 kW diesel engine. Investigation results showed that the combined effect of oxygenated and antioxidant additive increases the performance and reduces the emissions simultaneously with MENO blend.
