China Belt and Road Initiative: Measuring the Impact of Improving Transport Connectivity on Trade in the Region -- a Proof-of-Concept Study
This study uses qualitative and quantitative methods to measure the impact of multimodal transportation on trade and economic development under the China Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The study undertook to review the barriers and facilitators in infrastructure and connectivity on trade in the BRI region, and also to analyze and quantify the potential effects of removing barriers to international trade. The study provides empirical evidence of the impact of improved infrastructure in the BRI region and seeks to promote discussion among policymakers and stakeholders.
