EVALUATION OF THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THE MEASUREABLE PARAMETERS OF A SIGNAL, IN AN ULTRASONIC TEST OF THE STATE OF STRESS OF A ROCK MASS
OTSENKA INFORMATIVNOSTI IZMERYAEMYKH PARAMETROV SIGNALA PRI UL'TRAZVUKOVOM KONTROLE NAPRYAZHENNOGO SOSTOYANIYA MASSIVA GORNYKH POROD
The authors compare the amount of information which it is possible to obtain when measuring either the amplitude (or damping) or the velocity (the phase) of an elastic wave. It is concluded that if the ratio signal/noise is less than unity, it is better to use the phase parameter. (TRRL)
