YMS--METHOD FOR MEASURING SMALL AMOUNTS OF WHEEL WEAR
With a resolution of about plus or minus 4.00001 in (plus or minus 0.000001 m), railway wheel wear can be measured after a running distance of a few miles. The method can present a plot of the wear distribution on the wheel profile. It is used for field measurements on railway wheels with good results. This article describes the method.
