FROST PROTECTION ON RAILWAY TRACKS THROUGH THERMAL INSULATION WITH LAYERS OF PLASTIC FOAM
FROSTSICHERUNG VON EISENBAHNGLEISEN DURCH WAERMEDAEMMSCHICHTEN AUS KUNSTSTOFFHARTSCHAEUMEN
To make railway tracks frost resistant, thermal insulation may be carried out by means of a layer of plastic foam, which should be of sufficient thickness to be completely reliable in preventing any penetration of frost in the track bed. Based on this requirement, the Writer establishes the characteristic climatological and thermal values necessary for measuring the frost insulation of the permanent way. The article gives the process used for measuring and explains it in greater detail with an example.
