EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION FOR SEMI-SUBMERSIBLE CRANE VESSEL "NOMAD"
An increase in offshore oil and gas field development under adverse environmental conditions has prompted the need for large crane barges with big crane and loading capacities. Consequently, Japan's Nippon Kokan K. K. (NKK) has designed and developed a semisubmersible crane vessel named "Nomad" , which is suited for use in offshore oil and gas fields exposed to rough seas and adverse weather. Principal results of the tank tests and the overall motion performance of this crane barge are described.
