STEEL IN PRESTRESSED PREFABRICATION
EL ACERO EN LA PREFABRICACION PRETENSADA
After commenting on the behaviour of steel selected as A prestressing structural element, the author studies stress relaxation in the reinforcement and the time- and temperature-related evolution of the stresses. A model of thermally induced plastic deformation is presented; this model explains stress relaxation and creep in steel. The concept of equivalent temperature facilitates the calculation of relaxation during steam curing. Present knowledge of tensile corrosion is briefly reviewed, and reference is made to the most utilized tests in this field.
