LOAD BEARING CAPACITY OF ICE COVER AND DETERMINATION OF BREAKING STRENGTH

This paper presents a method of calculating ice bearing capacity. It has its basis in the mechanics theory of deformation of a thin elastic semi-infinite plane and field observations. The calculations have been used frequently to determine the feasibility of unloading supplies from ships onto the ice. (ASTIS)
