WORN RAIL VEHICLE WHEEL FLANGES MUST BE WELDED BY RESURFACING IF THIS IS A VIABLE PROPOSITION
ABGENUTZTE SPURKRAENZE VON EISENBAHNWAGENRAEDERN SIND AUFTRAGZUSCHWEISSEN, WENN ES WIRTSCHAFTLICH SEIN SOLL
If flanges are resurface-welded, considerable labor otherwise required for swarf removal is saved. A welding process is described whereby a pair of wheels is welded simultaneously under protection with CO2 gas, and a cold wire is used next to the conductor wire. There is no dangerous maximum hardness in the heat influence area even though the sensitive area of the tires is not preheated.
