I-95 Corridor Crash Data Reporting Methods
Access to timely and accurate crash data is essential to improving safety and efficiency on the I-95 Corridor's transportation network. Crash data are used throughout the corridor by law enforcement, departments of transportation, licensing agencies and other entities to make decisions on project planning and prioritization, implementation of technology and safety programs, resource allocation, and other activities. The purpose of this project was to: - Study the current state of the practice regarding crash data collection and reporting in I-95 Coalition States; - Identify the benefits and downsides of the current electronic crash data systems and procedures; and - Identify best practices for timely and accurate data collection and reporting.
