INFLUENCE OF CONSTRUCTION CONDITIONS AND RESTING TIME ON THE BEHAVIOUR AND BEARING CAPACITY OF DRILLED FOUNDATIONS
INCIDENCE DES CONDITIONS D'EXECUTION ET DU DELAI DE REPOS SUR LE COMPORTEMENT ET LA PORTANCE DES FOUNDATIONS FOREES
Using full-scale tests the authors propose to quantify the effects on the bearing capacity or pulling out resistance of: construction conditions, resting time and incidents during drilling. 28 foundations were compared, which were built in 8 different types of soil among 11 various sites: observations showed that all types of drilled foundation (small bars, piles, grouted tie rods) obey the same general behavioural laws. Details are given of the real values of the characteristic bearing capacity parameters such as lateral friction and strength of single points measured on some foundations. Those real values were determined experimentally on full-scale drilled foundations monitored with extensometers over the length of their shaft or their sealed part. The respective role played by the factors listed above is shown insofar as they improve or adversely affect the overall bearing capacity of foundations, especially lateral friction and end-bearing resistance.
