DYNAMIC SIMULATION OF FFG-7 SHIP PROPULSION SYSTEM
An analysis of techniques utilized in modeling the transient behavior of ships having controllable reversible pitch (CRP) propellers and powered by marine gas turbines was undertaken. Special emphasis was placed on linear models in state variable form. A technique for extracting linear models was applied to a nonlinear model of the gas turbine propulsion system for the FFG-7. Simulation results from the linear model were compared with nonlinear model results in order to establish final validity.
