OIL STORAGE AND DISPOSAL FACILITIES FOR HIGH SEA OIL EXPLORATIONS
Oil exploration has been extended to the high seas in a search for additional energy resources. Such explorations, though difficult, are essential to meet our energy needs. Difficulties arise mainly in the storage and disposal of the oil obtained from drilling sites which are far from the refineries generally located on the coast. Efforts to pump oil to land using long pipes have proved expensive. An outline is presented of a system whereby oil can be collected by ships from drilling sites and transported to various ports, thereby eliminating double handling. Transporting by ships is also cheaper than by other means. The design of such a system is presented.
