ELECTROCHEMICAL CONSOLIDATION OF THE GROUND FOR THE EXCAVATION OF A CUT AND COVER TUNNEL
APPLICAZIONE DEL CONSOLIDAMENTO ELETROCHIMICO DEL TERRENO PER LO SCAVO DI UNA GALLERIA ARTIFICIALE
This article describes the results of the electro-chemical consolidation of the terrain during a cut and cover operation for the Formia Bypass, State Road no 7, Scauri, Italy. The tunnel structure, in a densely built up area, required the excavation of vertical walls in an earth mass which proved unstable after the first few metres of excavation. The paper describes the soil tests and the process of electrochemical stabilization carried out during suspension of the excavation. (TRRL)
