APPLICATION OF VISIBILITY RESEARCH AND HIGHWAYS
This article defines visibility and the related measures of legibility and conspicuity and explains how recent research, principally in the programs of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), has served to improve visibility on Nation's roads. Roadway lighting studies and pavement marking systems are discussed.
