MOBILE CRUSHING AND SCREENING PLANT FOR ROAD AGGREGATES

This paper describes the design and specification of a mobile crushing and screening plant supplied to the Main Roads Department, Queensland to supplement locally available supplies of aggregate and roadbase. The plant was designed principally to crush and screen river gravels in northern Queensland, with provision for alternative types of feed such as shot rock. the MRD-GLD requirements for roadbase and screenings are outlined and the plant was designed to produce 20 cubic metres per hour of screenings or 66 cubic metres per hour of crusher run. The design requirements of primary crushers (feed size, capacity, reduction ratio, horsepower, etc.) secondary crushers; feeders, screens and conveyors, etc., are described in detail. The final design adopted included 750 mm x 375 mm primary jaw crusher, 500 mm diameter secondary gyratory crushers, 6 cubic metres capacity feed bin feeding a 2.4 M x 0.75 M vibratory grizzly and appropriate conveyors.
