FUNDAMENTAL STUDY OF CONTINUOUSLY SUPPORTED TRACK

Continuous slab track has been developed by various Railways to meet the need for lower maintenance costs and less vibrations and noise and to provide greater train stability at higher speeds. This article describes the tests carried out on continuous track built in Japan on a concrete deck. The static and dynamic characteristics of the track have been assessed and track subjected to sudden loads with satisfactory results. This new design track will probably be introduced on a large scale.
