Guide to asset management - processes part 8: financial management
The third edition of the Austroads Guide to Asset Management (GAM) has been produced to provide guidance to road agencies on the application of contemporary ‘whole of organisation’ asset management practice to road networks. It has been published as one document divided into three parts, with the order of these parts flowing from high level to detailed technical level. The eight Parts of Asset Management Processes address business processes and enablers associated with the asset management business cycle. Part 8 of the GAM aims to assist practitioners in the financial management in the specific areas of asset valuation and auditing. It focusses on the regular reporting and accounting for assets, as well as guidance on addressing financial sustainability, compiling a financial strategy, developing a long-term financial plan and compiling and using financial sustainability indicators as these ensure the sustainability/affordability of the asset management plan.
