TORSION TESTS ON CONCENTRICALLY PRESTRESSED BEAMS
Torsion tests on forty-one concrete beams of rectangular cross-section, reinforced with longitudinal bars and closed stirrups, and prestressed concentrically are discussed. Seven beams were tested by the authors and the remainder by other investigators. The three leading theories of torsion have been extended for the case of concentrically prestressed beams with non-prestressed longitudinal bars and closed stirrups. The predicted values of ultimate strength, based on the derived expressions are compared with the ultimate strengths obtained in all the tests. (Author/TRRL)
