MAXIMUM WAVE HEIGHT PROBABILITIES FOR A RANDOM NUMBER OF RANDOM INTENSITY STORMS
A very general model is presented for the probability distribution function for wave heights in storms with time varying intensities. Some of the possible choices for functions in the model are listed and discussed. Techniques for determining the equivalent rectangular storm corresponding to a given historically recorded storm are developed. The final model formula expresses the probabilities for a random number of random length storms each with random intensities. (Author)
