PSYCHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF MOTORISATION

PSYCHOLOGISCHE MERKMALE DER MOTORISIERUNGSENTWICKLUNG

The report highlights the following trends in the motorisation development of drivers: (1) the variation in attitudes relating to motorisation, i.e. With increased driving experience the symbolic function of the vehicle recedes behind its practical function; (2) the change from individual to social behaviour; (3) subjective safety (from the individual view) will be reduced in favour of a weighted condition between this and objective safety (as a physical value); (4) better adjustment to traffic conditions of driving behaviour. The understanding which results from this, that safety is dependent upon experience, i.e. That it can be learned, relates to the necessity of introducing a fundamentally wider based system of driver training, which can reduce the experience dependent training of the individual driver by the provision of information.
