Remote Monitoring of KYTC Construction Projects
Field inspectors monitor a variety of projects, including new construction and maintenance activities. Given the addition of new practices, such as bridge preservation, and the likely shortage of field inspectors trained in all practices, the use of remote monitoring could greatly benefit Kentucky. This study will identify other agencies using remote construction monitoring, develop contract language, instrumentation needs, and communication needs required to implement a remote monitoring project. If feasible, this method would allow central office to monitor many field projects with only a single person.
