CONTROLLING HYDROCARBON EMISSIONS
Hydrocarbon vapour emissions from crude oil tankers are dealt with. The article describes some phases of a typical tanker's cargo handling cycle, relates them to hydrocarbon emissions, discusses probable quantities of emissions, and describes operational techniques that can reduce vapour emissions. Crew safety environmental impact as well as oil loss due to vapour emission are briefly described.
