THE ASPECT OF HUMAN FACTORS IN THE CAUSE OF ROAD ACCIDENTS - SOME POSSIBILITIES FOR FUTURE PREVENTIVE MEASURES

DER ASPEKT DER MENSCHLICHEN FAKTOREN BEI DEM ENTSTEHEN VON VERKEHRSUNFAELLEN-EINIGE MOEGLICHKEITEN FUER ZUKUENFTIGE PRAEVENTIVMASSNAHMEN

This article describes trials, assessments and difficulties affecting a system based upon the differentiation of accident causes. The participation in the system of doctors, lawyers, police, psychologists, sociologists, journalists, traffic researchers, scientists and politicians makes agreement on causes, results and reduction of accidents particularly difficult due to the numerous viewpoints. Because of the infrequency of fatal accidents it is necessary to combine within the system information on autopsies, injuries and damage from accidents and casualties of all grades of severity, in order to provide regular evidence concerning causation over a broad basis, which could lead to counter measures and corresponding accident prevention. One possible way of encouraging accident prevention is the stimulus-control technique. (TRRL)
