PROPULSION SYSTEM SELECTION FOR ARCTIC LIQUID NATURAL GAS CARRIERS
This paper describes the procedure for the design of a propulsion system of an icebreaking liquid natural gas (LNG) carrier. The paper discusses a means of: -establishing preliminary design requirements, -identifying candidate propulsion systems, -evaluating technically and economically the candidate systems, and -selecting the optimal propulsion system for the anticipated operating duty.
