AN EVALUATION OF THE NEED TO MEASURE STRESSES IN PRACTICAL HULL SURVEILLANCE SYSTEMS
Measured stresses on 14 ships have been evaluated and extended to life time values. The measured and predicted long term stress levels were related to scantling requirements. In view of the obtained stress levels, the need for hull stress monitoring systems is evaluated.
