WEAK POINTS IN THE LONG TERM USEFULNESS OF COMMERCIAL VEHICLES. A SPECIFIC ANALYSIS OF THE TUEV RHINELAND
SCHWACHSTELLEN IN DER LANGZEITTAUGLICHKEIT VON NUTZFAHRZEUGEN. EINE TYPSPEZIFISCHE ANALYSE DES TUEV RHEINLAND
The analysis provides a survey of the frequencies of defects in lorries, classified according to weight and age, and the causes of typical weak points. It was derived from the results of periodic technical inspections undertaken by the Tuev Rhineland. The feedback of experience from the technical inspectors to the manufacturers and detailed user information completes the concept of strategic safety. The manufacturer usually has accurate information for the first few years because of his quality controls, but for older vehicles the market contact is lacking, and regular inspections can be very useful.
