The Software to Assess Environmental Commitments of Companies

The aim of SEVE (Environmental Alternative Assessment System) is to increase the environmental performance of companies. Thanks to the software, it is possible to show that after a couple of technical and environmental performances, it is more than a challenge, it is a reality. As such, one of the main objectives of the CEV (Voluntary Commitment Agreement) was to develop an eco-comparator software that would encourage companies firstly to provide environmental alternatives during tendering and secondly to the contractors be available to analyze these offers objectively. In 2010, USIRF1 created the SEVE software which has become four years later the benchmark for the environmental analysis of jobsites. SEVE indicators are simple and quantifiable in order to allow a completely objective analysis. Moreover, SEVE allows for contractualizing the input data with a follow-up phase of commitments at posteriori. Thus, the contractor is able to implement the follow-up data into the software and compare the environmental impact of construction actually achieved with the impact originally planned. Through this, the company must be clear in the drafting of the environmental phase of the project and even more during its production in order to meet the commitments held; otherwise, it is subject to penalties beyond a certain percentage of error defined by the contractor himself.
