Eco-Roads: Roads as Landscape Generators

A road must be conceived as a fecund resource in order to organise a region. A road must be considered also as an actual medium in order to design a landscape: a road can be conceived not to disrupt vital relations but to protect unique features and to reinforce life enclosed in a place. A road can be conceived as a bundle of routes and spaces for diverse modes of transport, as a spine of transverse relations, as a mosaic of scenarios, nodes, poles of services. It can act as a linear urban device apt to sustain relevant places and sacred sites located along its course, apt to promote a vast range of routines and practices, and to reinforce modes of use and activities present in traversed sites.
