A Simplified Prediction Model of Engine Warm-up for Heavy-duty Diesel Engines
Predicting an engine warm-up process is effective for evaluating fuel consumption and exhaust emissions in the cold start condition with the vehicle simulation and on-board diagnosis of a coolant temperature sensor used for engine control. In this study, a prediction method of coolant temperature in the engine warm-up process was developed by using a simple calculation model and quantified total heat mass of the engine system based on experimental data. In addition, the method was validated under various conditions by an engine test cell and a vehicle test cell experiments.
