RESULTS OF ROUGH WATER TRIALS ON A FSHV (FULL SCALE HYDRODYNAMIC VEHICLE) REPRESENTING AN LVA PLANING HULL CONCEPT
The LVA (Landing Vehicle Assault) is a proposed amphibious personnel carrier that is to have a speed in excess of 25 mph over the water. Among the concepts envisaged to achieve this are planing hull designs, and the purpose of these tests was to investigate the seakeeping performance of one such design using a prototype full-scale craft which was not, however, equipped with the tracks needed for amphibious operation.
