Effect of ambient temperature on piston-type synthetic jet actuator
The effect of the ambient temperature on the piston-type synthetic jet actuator performance is investigated numerically. And the effects of the actuation frequency and orifice diameter on mass flow, cylinder pressure and jet momentum are also analysed under high and normal temperatures as well as the effect of the auxiliary air inlet on synthetic jet actuator performance under high temperature. The results indicated that ambient temperature has a significant effect on synthetic jet actuator performance. As the ambient temperature rises, the mass flow, cylinder pressure and jet maximum momentum decrease significantly. Compared with that at normal temperature, the synthetic jet actuator performance with high actuation frequency or large orifice diameter has large degradation under high ambient temperature. In addition, auxiliary air inlet can significantly improve the suction capability and performance of the synthetic jet actuator.
